Godminster Vintage Cheddar hails from Bruton, Somerset, where it is made with pasteurised cow’s milk from the farm's own organic dairy herd to a traditional 70-year-old recipe. This firm Cheddar is matured for up to twelve months to produce a full, rounded flavour and an exceptionally smooth, creamy texture. Rich and buttery, it has a long finish without the acidity often associated with vintage Cheddars. Encased in distinctive burgundy wax, Godminster Cheddar is shaped in round truckles – and seasonally as pretty hearts.
Godminster always leaves you wanting more, it's a customer favourite and one of mine too. Its buttery taste melts in your mouth.

delicious, creamy full of flavour
We have been to Aldeburgh many times and we have bought cheeses from Slate on each occasion. This is a wonderful
shop and the cheeses are always a pleasure.
On this visit we purchased several cheeses but the Godminster was exceptional taste and creamy. All the other cheeses wer also
excellent. We had a blue cheese that was scooped out of a drum with a ladle, this was a pleasure as well. I cannot remember the name.
I will be putting an order an order in to have some more sent to me as I will not be able to get to Aldeburgh for a while.
If there you must visit.
Thank you for your review - so glad you enjoyed your visit to Slate and tasting our cheeses! The scoopable blue cheese you mention is Gorgonzola Dolce - its available to buy online or next time you visit Slate. We hope to see you soon.
