Winner of the ‘Best Cheddar’ award at the British Cheese Awards 2018, Westcombe Cheddar is one of the three big Somerset Cheddars. Made by a father and son team at Westcombe Dairy near Shepton Mallett, this PDO accredited artisan Cheddar has a fabulous earthy aroma and a deep complex flavour. We love its lingering notes of notes of hazelnut and caramel; its mellow tang; and famously long finish. More information (including allergens) >

On a visit to Somerset, Clare was able to discover more about Westcombe Cheddar with a visit to the dairy where it is made. She got hands on with the key step of 'cheddaring' and met the UK's first cheese-turning robot. Read all about her visit on our blog >
Our wine expert, Katie Goodchild from Heritage Wines recommends Montgomery Vineyard's Solaris 2019. -
“Solaris is a grape variety of Germanic origin notable for its wonderful floral quality and Montgomery's is full of powerful notes of elderflower. Backed up with citrus and melon flavours which compliment Westcombe Cheddar's grassy and hay notes, there is also a kick of tropical fruit that lifts the match, acting in tandem with the wine's acidity. Pear drops and grapefruit are overlaid with a pineapple sweetness."
