Vintage Lincolnshire Poacher

C

Vintage Lincolnshire Poacher is made on the Jones family’s sustainably run farm with the unpasteurised milk from their herd of Holstein-Friesian cows. This traditionally-made cheese is similar to cheddar while also being reminiscent of Alpine cheeses such as Comte and Gruyere. Matured for around 22 months on wooden boards, Vintage Lincolnshire Poacher is smooth and rich. Batches made from summer milk have sweet pineapple and grassy notes with hints of toasted nuts. Winter-made batches are often more savoury and meaty. Read more

Poacher is a complex cheese with a deep and distinctive taste. It pairs beautifully with a full-bodied red wine.

Delicious cheese

As a person who suffers with Lactose intolerance, finding a cheese that has been matured for over 20 months is very difficult, being able to eat a delicious full flavoured cheddar is therefore an absolute treat.
Slate have three cheeses available that are matured for over 22 months and these are now on the top of my gift list for special occasions.

Another excellent cheese from Slate

If you can have a creamy nuttiness then this is it really good flavour but not, in my opinion, a strong cheese but delicious
