Exceptional cheeses need accompaniments that will complement their individual flavours. We’ve taken great care to select products that pair perfectly with the cheeses we sell. Remember, if you would like any advice or recommendations for planning a cheeseboard, we’re always happy to help.
If you’re looking for crackers, crispbreads and oatcakes that won’t compete with subtle delicate cheeses, you’ll find the crispiest handbaked choices here. If you like to contrast silky soft cheeses with sweet flavours and palate-pleasing textures, why not try some delicious artisan fruit and nut studded toasts?
We stock outstanding chutneys and preserves. Make sure you try Eastgate Larder’s medlar cheese, produced from locally grown medlars. We’re also very proud of our very own award-winning chilli jam, made in our Aldeburgh kitchen.
Beyond the cheeseboard we have flavoursome provisions to enjoy alongside cheese for lunch or pre-dinner nibbles. Create a classic ploughman's spread with Westcombe Cheddar, fig chutney and a meaty pork pie from Norfolk's Bray's Cottage. Or tempt your tastebuds with thinly sliced Manchego accompanied by authentic Spanish charcuterie and mouth-watering olives smoked locally here in Suffolk.
Fig chutney and cheese are a match made in heaven, and Rosebuds Preserves Fig Chutney is the best we’ve ever tasted. This rich and piquant mix of juicy figs, molassed sugar, warm cinnamon and sweet fresh orange is an ideal accompaniment to our strong Cheddars or our soft cheeses. Made at Rosebuds Farm in Yorkshire, Elspeth Bilcroft uses the skills and recipes handed down by her mother. She ensures her ingredients are fresh and flavoursome by only gathering or buying in season. Read more

We’re very grateful to Jane Steward from Eastgate Larder for introducing us to the long-forgotten medlar and medlar cheese, which she makes at home in Norfolk. Jane uses the concentrated pulp of locally grown medlars, along with local sugar and natural pectin from lemon juice. A great addition to a cheese board with hard or soft cheese, medlar cheese goes particularly well with East Anglian favourites St Jude and Norfolk Tawny. Visitors to our shops can also buy Jane’s medlar cheese by the slice, much like Spanish quince cheese, or membrillo. Read more

Slate Chilli Jam is handmade by Kim, the head chef in our Aldeburgh kitchen. We were delighted when it won a Gold Great Taste Award in 2017, where the judges described it as “a really well-balanced chilli jam.” Neither too hot nor too sweet, Kim’s tomato-based recipe contains just enough chillies to deliver a moreish kick. This versatile preserve is delicious on a cheeseboard alongside strong cheeses, especially our mature Cheddars. Read more

Their crunchy texture and tart flavour create a perfect partnership with British hard cheeses such as Lincolnshire Poacher, also Alpine favourites including Le Gruyère and aged Comté.
